Welcome to Kait’s Cupboard Your Answer for Easy Gut Healthy Meals
Kait’s Cupboard is the gut healthy answer to the proverbial question, “what’s for dinner?”
It’s Sunday, you’re trying to make a gut healthy meal plan for your week so that you aren’t caught ordering Door Dash four out of seven days…Or, it’s Monday, you’ve had a long day at work…what do you make for dinner? Simplify your life and just search Kait’s Cupboard by day!
This post is all about easy, gut healthy recipes! Welcome to Kait’s Cupboard!
Where do you go for healthy, quick meals that everyone can love?
Kait’s Cupboard focuses on delicious food, connection, and gut health. Have you ever wondered why recipes are one place and health information is in another? I’m taking that on, tagging each recipe with information backed by science about your food and health.
With a large family, I am constantly looking for dinner ideas that are:
1. Attainable 2. Delicious 3. Healthy (most of the time)
What do I mean by attainable?
I’m not going to be pressing my own corn tortillas–but oh could I tell you about the day I tried that! My recipes will be real food that real people can find the ingredients to make and cook, even in a small Midwest town.
What do I mean by delicious?
How delicious can eating at home be? How about swapping homemade muffins for afternoon snacking instead of chips? Or homemade spaghetti sauce that your kids will cheer when they find out you’re making it for dinner? What about fluffy pancakes that are as easy as the ones that come out of the box? Black bean dips that will disappear as soon as they leave the counter? The recipes posted here are those approved by a gaggle of kids, friends, and family.
What do I mean by healthy?
What do I mean by healthy? Each recipe will be connected to real science about our gut health. I will provide the number of plant points associated with each meal and link to science and data about how the superhero microbacteria within our food support our physical and mental health!
Kait’s Cupboard Recipes are Themed by Day
Life is crazy, so to make decision making easier I turned to a quick way to minimize the noise– themes! And, guess what? Weekly meal planning went from long and arduous to short and sweet.
Each of these themes is taken in broad brushstrokes. That is, Taco Tuesday is not always tacos, instead it’s something Latin or Southwest inspired. While, Slow Simmer Thursday is all about soup.
Pizza Friday with my Dad always amounted to an effort to find the cheapest, best, frozen pizza. I’ve taken that up a notch and included homemade pizza recipes that make us look forward to Friday even more!
This homemade pizza includes whole wheat dough, homemade pizza sauce with ZERO cooking required, and fresh ingredients. Bake in the oven or on the grill for a fired pizza taste that rivals your local pizzeria!
