Pinolenic Acid

Pine nut oil is the only source to obtain pinolenic acid, which is a type of polyunsaturated fatty acid. Research has shown that Pinolenic acid is capable of reducing levels of Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol in the bloodstream. That’s the bad cholesterol, so reducing it is a good thing! Moreover, research suggests that consuming pine nut extract may help reduce fasting blood glucose levels (Zulfcar et al., 2020).

Pine nuts are an excellent source of protein, fiber, and healthy fats. Eating them regularly can help you stay fuller for longer periods of time. One ounce (28 grams) of pine nuts contains 31.4 milligrams of omega-3s, making it a great source for this important nutrient. Besides staying full and feeling healthy, Omega 3’s and DHA have been known to help maintain brain health as they may slow down cognitive deterioration, reduce the risk of getting dementia, and alleviate symptoms of depression (Dyall, 2015).
Bottom line, Pinolenic acid supports your good cholesterol, physical health, and brain health!
