The Best Ham Pizza Recipe Every Mom Should Have

This ham pizza recipe is seriously the best out there! If you haven’t tried your hand at making pizza on the grill, you definitely should give it a try!

It’s Pizza Friday! This ham pizza recipe is something the kids and adults can agree on, so we make two and usually end up without any leftovers to spare. Tonight we are using the grill to make this staple pizza favorite: Ham, Green Pepper, and Onion Pizza.

With thinly sliced deli ham that slightly flakes over the grill, homemade pizza sauce, and fresh onion and green pepper, this pizza is both healthy and delicious.

Tomatoes Supporting Your Gut

When compared to colored bell peppers, green peppers pack more punch in antioxidants including phenolic acid. Phenolic acid has been found to protect against inflammation (Ali et al., 2020). Ham, Green Pepper, & Onion Pizza on the Grill

With thinly sliced deli ham that slightly flakes over the grill, homemade pizza sauce, and fresh onion and green pepper, this pizza is both healthy and delicious.

Ingredients
  

Pizza Dough
  • 2 cups whole wheat white flour King Arthur's
  • 1/2 cup white flour
  • 1 tsp Mediterranean sea salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil   extra virgin
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup hot water not boiling  from tap is fine
Pizza Sauce
  • 6 oz canned tomato paste
  • 15 oz canned tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp dried oregano
  • 2 tbsp dried Italian seasoning 
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp raw honey 
Pizza Toppings
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 large green pepper diced into small bits
  • 1 medium Spanish onion diced into small bits
  • 6 oz deli ham thinly sliced

Instructions
 

Make the Dough

  • Combine in a food processor the following ingredients. Allow time to rise. This is important! For more directions, check out Pizza Dough with Baby Joe!
    2 cups whole wheat white flour, 1/2 cup white flour, 1 tsp Mediterranean sea salt, 2 tbsp olive oil  , 2 tsp active dry yeast, 1 cup hot water not boiling 

Make the Sauce

  • In a medium sized bowl, combine all the ingredients.
    6 oz canned tomato paste, 15 oz canned tomato sauce, 2 tbsp dried oregano, 2 tbsp dried Italian seasoning , 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp onion powder, 1/2 tsp ground black pepper, 1 tsp raw honey 
  • Stir with a large spoon until well combined.

Make the Pizza

  • Preheat your grill to medium high.
  • Place your pizza stone on the grill.
  • Tear a large piece of parchment paper and place it on your wood pizza peel.
  • Roll out the dough to make a thin pizza crust.
  • Place the crust on the parchment paper on top of the wooden pizza peel.
  • Spread your homemade pizza sauce over the pizza crust.
  • Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the top.
    1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Then, add the green pepper diced into small bits over top the cheese.
    1 large green pepper
  • Next, spread the diced Spanish onion.
    1 medium Spanish onion
  • Finally, add the deli ham in little clumps.  
    6 oz deli ham
  • Once the grill is preheated (if you have a temperature gauge it should be at least 500 degrees), slide the pizza with parchment paper onto the pizza stone on the grill.
  • Grill for 6-8 minutes depending on how hot your grill can get. Watch closely and check frequently! It will cook quickly!
